If you are interested in mobile app development you will require excellent coding skills. Although coding skills can be obtained with any degree but it is preferable to go for Computer Science Engineering or Information Technology branch.

The top colleges for these degrees are various IITs, IIITs, BITS and NITs.

Hi Candidate! To get a seat in NIT, one should have to eligible for it. And the eligible criteria is for unreserved category secure atleast 75% in their 12th standards and for the reserved category i.e. SC ST PWD they have to secure atleast 65% in their 12th standard. Or the candidate have to in top 20 percentile of their 12th board. So according to this you are definitely eligibile.

See its all about the point of views. CSE has a broad field of view and Software Engineering is getting narrower or a branch of CSE. Software engineering and CSE have similar syllabus till the 2nd year. After that the syllabus and the curriculum will change, there will be a deviation both in curriculum and teaching methodology. Software Engineer deals with Software development fields like testing, metrics development. While Computer Science Engineers deals with AI, a series of programming language. For instance, Data Base Management System (DBMS) is taught to the branches in the 6th semester but the teaching methods are different. SWE has very fewer opportunities for projects. 

And if you are willing to do Mobile App Development then go for CSE because you will get to learn a lot of programming languages in these four years of course.
