Is mobile app developer best branch to select?

Mahaveer Student Expert 15th May, 2019

When it comes to the IT industry, there are plenty of career paths to take. But one field that has seen a tremendous rise in popularity of late is that of Mobile App Development.

Mobile devices have become ubiquitous two-thirds of the world's population is connected with a mobile device. That's more than 5 billion unique mobile subscribers. This means that using mobile apps for everything from shopping to getting a ride, scheduling appointments, design, playing video games, and more - all on a mobile device has become commonplace.

As a result, the need for mobile app developers has surged, and will likely upwardly mobile for a long time to come. The blossoming startup scene has also contributed a large chunk of the demand for mobile app developers, and many of these startups are prepared to pay very competitive salaries to deserving candidates. Many startups are already switching to only mobile and no web environments; in a sense, the revolution in computing devices witnessed two decades ago is now being played out on the mobile front.

Why Get Involved in Mobile App Development?

  • The excitement of designing new things.
  • Invent new technology.

Steps to Becoming a Mobile App Developer

To learn how to become a mobile app developer, first, you should learn popular programming languages like C, C++, C#, and Java. The specific choice of language naturally depends on what mobile platform and OS they are creating the apps. For example, apps for Apple iOS most often use Objective C, whereas Java is the language to acquire proficiency in for Android apps.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, test, and improve mobile apps.
  • Ensure the quality and functionality of apps is in line with your client's requirements.
  • Write code for apps for specific operating environments.
  • Design and develop the app's interface.
  • Communicate ideas and designs with team members.
  • Provide support for your app, so that any issues that arise can immediately be deal.
  • Devise fixes and workarounds for any issues that arise.

Flutter or Java/Kotlin, which have a great scope in future?

Mahaveer Student Expert 15th May, 2019

Flutter is the future of mobile app development. Flutter is Google's new open source technology for creating native Android and iOS apps with a single codebase. Flutter is not a framework; it's a complete SDK - software development kit - which already contains everything you will need to build cross-platform applications. This includes a rendering engine, ready-made widgets, testing and integration APIs, and command-line tools.

Flutter follows the reactive development architecture, but with a twist. The main thing to know about reactive programming is that it updates UI contents automatically when you update the variables in the code. React Native also follows this principle, but it uses the JavaScript bridge to access OEM widgets. But since the app has to pass the bridge to access widgets each time, it causes performance issues. Flutter, however, omits this bridge altogether and communicates with the native platform using Dart.

Dart is a modern object-oriented language that will remind you of Java or C++ with its syntax. It supports both strong and weak typing styles making it easy to pick up for beginners.

Android apps can be written in any language and can run on Java machine (JVM). Kotlin is one such, JVM compatible programming language that compiles down to Java bytecode and has really caught the attention of Android Community. Kotlin was actually created to be better than Java in every possible way.

With Google itself becoming Kotlin-oriented, major developers are moving towards adopting it, and since many Java apps are now being rewritten in Kotlin, it is viewed as a future of building Android apps.

The key benefits of adopting Kotlin

  • Kotlin offers Brevity
  • It is Open Source
  • It is a Mature Language with a Great IDE support
  • It provides an Easier Way to Develop Android Apps
  • It is a Swift Language for Android App Development
  • It is Reliable Due to its Evolutionary PRocess
  • It is much safer than Java
  • It is easy to learn

Mahaveer Student Expert 15th May, 2019

Most Employers Seek mobile application developers with at least a bachelor's degree in software engineering, mobile application development, mobile computing, computer science or a similar programming-centric field of study. Hiring managers for mobile development positions will also want to see a portfolio with samples of completed mobile applications and your best development projects. The following undergrad and graduate degree programs satisfy both of these requirements with hands-on courses wherein students create a range of application for the leading mobile platforms, plus specialized lessons on presenting yourself as a top candidate for mobile developer positions, in which active mobile development practitioners help you assemble the apps created throughout the program into an industry-specific portfolio, resume and cover letter.

Marketable skills to look for n a mobile development education program include iOS application development [iPhone and iPad], Android application development, object-oriented programming [OOP], Java programming [Java SE/ME/EE], JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Objective-C, and C++ programming, user-interface[UI] design, game and simulation programming, mobile app portfolio assembly, database and OS fundamentals, and mobile media marketing and deployment. The subject matter in the mobile application development training works extremely well in online learning formats.

ANY COMPUTER SAVVY PERSON MIGHT BE FIT TO LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP MOBILE APPLICATIONS BUT BEING ABLE TO DEVELOP MOBILE APPS REQUIRES A SPECIFIC SET OF SKILLS.

What is the best non governmental college for it engineering with best faculty and placement

Baisakh Sarangi 8th May, 2019
Hi Ashish,
It seems that you are looking for the best private engineering colleges for IT engineering.
I would suggest you to go for giving the entrance test named BITSAT for getting admitted in BITS Pilani/Hyderabad/it's other campuses as BITS has a world-wide recognition and also it's placement statistics are very high especially in the CSE and IT branch. Also you can opt for VIT(Vellore Institute of Technology) by giving it's entrance test. It's placement in the IT department is also very good.

Sir/Madam please tell me the admission process and fee structure related to the course of mobile app developer.I got 65%in 12th(cbse) by PCM

arpita sinha 2nd May, 2019
Hello Sparsh!

For mobile app development course, you can go for BCA i.e. Bachelor's in Computer Application or B.Sc.in Computer Science. Since you have PCM, you can also go for software engineering. After that you will have a lot of scope.

  • B. Sc (Hons.) Computer science is available in Delhi University, but 65% isn't enough for it.

  • You may apply in Indraprasth University (IPU) under which there are many college which offer BCA courses.

The admission in IPU occurs through entrance examination.
The fee structure for BCA is around 50k-60k per annum, though it may vary in different colleges.
For B. Tech it's around same 50k-60k, but if you are willing to join an integrated course, B.Tech+M. Tech, it's cheaper.

  • Even Jamia Milia Islamia has a course Bachelor's in Engineering (Computer Science), the admission in which occurs through an entrance examination. It's fee structure is like in a range of 15k-25k.

I would suggest you to begin your career in Mobile application by first getting yourself into a good course related to computer science. Most importantly, brush up your programming and coding skills in these years. I am sure you will have a lot of opportunities after that.

All the best! Do well! :)
