Greetings Priyanshu!
Hope you're doing great.
The job of a petroleum engineer in PSU(Public Sector Undertaking) is a government job added with perks of civil life. The engineers in PSUs are paid handsomely with a lot of facilities such as home allowances, medical facilities, Special Dearness allowance. The life of engineers in PSUs, especially in ONGC and NHAI, is not less than being an IAS officer. The matter of fact many of the PSUs jobs offers a package which is far ahead than any Grade 'A' government employees.
Coming back to your question. 'YES' engineers in PSUs are in the semi-government job and mostly on a contract basis. They are posted regularly on PAN India basis. There are many PSUs for CIVIL ENGINEERING which provide employment to the job seekers according to their area of interest and job profiles. The selection process through PSUs is through rigorous GATE examination which is conducted once every year. GATE is generally for admission into M.Tech courses however, PSU pickup bright mind student direct from these examinations.
In most of the PSUs, it is a 24-hour ongoing process i.e, people work in 8-hour shifts, 6 days a week. In most of the cases, it extends beyond 8 hours, especially for the shift in charges and those in maintenance jobs..1 breakdown and you never know how long you will be stuck, even on Sundays! For those in government jobs, a fixed timing i.e, a 9- 6 job, with, of course, leaves on Saturday and Sunday. ( Leave structure varies with PSU employees getting 15 CLs etc)
Hope, things are clear now. Do reach out in the comment section below for more help.
Cheers!
Hello Amartya saha,
Yeah you can participate in Oil and Narural Gas Corporation recruitment through GATE because gate score is having three year validity. You can use your GATE score till 2020 for recruitments and for M.Tech Admission.
All the best for your career.
Hello Shubham
If you are expecting a rank of 132 in ECE then congrats man you can be shorlisted for various of PSU's.
ONGC and NTPC will be easy(maybe) but i think BARC will be difficult as it sometimes shorlist only under 50 AIR. AAI and NTRO will be easy whereas HPCL and Powergrid will be impossible as it only takes under 100 AIR sometimes even under 50.
dear aspirant,
as per your score you have very less chances to get ongc, iocl, ntpc, bhel because your score is less and you belong to general category
all the best
thank you
Hello Kirti.
See u have opted for the chemistry discipline which is having a cut off of 37 marks for general so might not be able to even qualify the GATE exam.
Hoping about PSUs u must be having ur rank below 400 to get a job in there. For pursuing ur higher studies in the good colleges like NITs and IITs then u must be having a rank between 500- 1500 but u might be able to even qualify.
So apply for another exam for ur admission or job seeking probability. Hope u got ur point. Ask if any query.
Good luck
Hey Swapna.
According to the ONGC Recruitment from CLAT, the eligibility criteria laid out is that you need to have a 3 year or 5 year integrated law degree from a recognised institute by the Bar council of India. You need to score a minimum aggregate of atleast 60% in your LLB degree to be eligible for ONGC Recruitment through CLAT. As your aggregate is 56% you don't seem to be eligible for this.
Best of luck
Dear Raja,
ONGC medical test is just about checking whether you are free from any kind of disease or not, and will you be able to complete normal day to day task at the job site. If you fulfill their minimum physical standards, having a tatoo you won't get rejected from the medical.
