Which if the following is natural polymer

rgautam.rs 13th Sep, 2020

Hey,

Natural polymers occur in nature and can be extracted. They are often water-based. Examples of naturally occurring polymers are silk, wool, DNA, cellulose and protein.

Cellulose , another natural polymer, is the main structural component of plants. Most natural polymers are condensation polymers, and in their formation from monomers water is a by-product.

why should one always use purest monomer in free radical polymerization reaction

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 16th Apr, 2020
Hi

During the process of free radical polymerisation reaction, the impurities can act as chain transfer agent and and it may combine with the free radical participating in the polymerization reaction and can act as a inhibitor which will interfere with the normal polymerisation reaction and it may slow down the reaction or it can even stop the reaction.
So purest monomer is used in free radical polymerization reaction.

Thankyou

Is there any chance of pursuing Msc in forensic science even if i have not done the undergraduate course in forensic science but holds a different degree? Im currently doing my 3rd year engineering in Polymer Science and Technology (which deals with polymer chemistry)

Sharon Rose Student Expert 25th May, 2020

Hello,

Only B.Sc graduates in Forensic Sciences or relevant subjects are eligible for M.Sc Forensic Sciences.Each institute has its own eligiblity criteria.In LPU the eligibility is that a candidate must have passed B.Sc. Forensic Science or Biology or Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Microbiology or Biotechnology or B.Pharm or MBBS or BDS or BHMS or its equivalent with 60% aggregate.In Government Institute of Forensic Science, Nagpur a candidate must have passed B.Sc Forensic Sciences.Likewise the eligibility may vary but you are not eligible for it.

if polymer sample contain two monodisperse fractions in the ratio2:3 with degree of polymerisation 100 and 200 then its weight AVG molecular at?

Upendra Gupta 1st Nov, 2019

The average molecular weight of the sample will be (b) 4600

Explanation:

The average molecular weight is given by the relation,

W = (WM + WM)/(W + W)

W = 2

W = 3

M = molar mass of 1st fraction = 100 x 28 = 2800

M = molar mass of 1st fraction = 200 x 28 = 5600

putting these values in the given eqn

W = (2x2800 + 3x5600)/(2+3)

= (5600 + 16800)/5

= 22400/5

= 4480

≈ 4600

Hence the average molecular weight of the sample will be 4600
