is chattisgarh a closed or open state for private medical college for pursuing mbbs this year 2020? do tell me according to latest reports please as its very confusing?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Nov, 2020

DME, Raipur has not released its official prospectus for the year 2020. But going by previous year's Chattisgarh is an Open State and last year out of State Candidates have been allowed to take admission through Management Quota of Private Medical Colleges through State Counselling. There are 3 Categories in Private Medical Colleges. Category A is the Government Quota Seats. And only candidates of the home State are eligible to apply for these seats. B Category seats are also called Management Quota Seats and they are filled through State Counselling and the remaining seats are filled through direct Admissions by contacting the College directly provided the Candidate has registered for the respective State Counselling and has not been able to secure a seat in the Counselling. Here the fees is usually nothing less than 40 lakhs. The last Category is NRI seats Category and you cannot apply for that.

taking govt college is better or taking a govt seat in private medical college

DrTeeth 2nd Nov, 2020

The answer may vary if we were to look at it from various perspectives but more people prefer government colleges rather than any seat (government or management) in private colleges. This might be true due to the following reasons:

1. Fees: Any seat in a private medical college will always cost you way more than what you pay in any government college

2. Many government colleges have been established way earlier than private ones thus provide better academic records and are ranked higher

3. Exposure- due to the low cost of treatment in government colleges, you will always find more patients there. More patients means more clinical rotations thus more experience.

4. One major con of getting into any GMC is the lack of proper infrastructure and other facilities.
