how to become a professor of biology? what are the requirements needed?

Yaseera Bhombal 24th Dec, 2021

Hello Mahak,

If you want to be a professor for biology, you have to do the following :

First of all you need to get a bachelor's degree in biology.

Complete your masters in biology.

Appear for the NET LS examination and clear it.

As per UGC a candidate would need to have a PhD in relevant subject for post of an assistant professor from the year 2023.

So if you haven't yet completed your bachelor's means that you also need to do PhD in biology as the rule will established before you apply for the job.

Next after you become an assistant professor several years of promotion and large amount of publications will help you get promoted to an associate professor.

Similarly, after years of experience as associate professor you would be promoted to professor's post.

The promotions are done under the UGC guidelines only.

Hope that answers your question.

All the best
