Like if we want to get admission in engineering college weve to clear JEE. But if we want to join quantum mechanics college, what entrance exam weve to clear? Is it UGC - NET?

Jini bibi 23rd Aug, 2022

The NTA UGC NET exam is a nationwide test used to assess a candidate's suitability for either Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges.
Candidates may apply for the UGC NET if they have earned a Master's degree or its equivalent in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science, etc. from a recognised university with a minimum grade point average of 55%.

However, based on your request, I believe you are seeking for a bachelor's degree. In that case, you must take a standard engineering entrance exam, such as the State Jee or the Jee mains, and then select universities based on your preferences during counselling.

what is the important topic to study before quantum mechanics?

dhanshree1501 9th Feb, 2022

Hello Aspirant,

I hope you are doing well.

In order to study elementary quantum mechanics you must ideally have an understanding of the following mathematical ideas: Complex numbers. Partial and Ordinary differential equations. Integral calculus I-III.

Firstly, start by learning basic physics (Newtonian mechanics, electromagnetism, etc.),before learning quantum mechanics. Then, some mathematics like calculus I-III [single and multivariable with differentiation and integration], differential equations [ODEs], linear algebra and Fourier analysis.

Some resources:

  • Wikipedia
  • MIT Open CourseWare (OCW) http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/
  • Use an online textbook (or an actual tangible one, if you can), like this one (for an intro): http://www.physics.umd.edu/courses/Phys270/Jenkins/Griffiths_EPR_BellInequality_Excerpt.pdf
  • http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL701CD168D02FF56F & here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL84C10A9CB1D13841

I hope this helps.

Good Luck

GUTTULA NIKHITHA 26th Sep, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

In order to prepare for Quantum Mechanics for IIT JAM Physics,

Quantum Mechanics - By Zetili / Griffith / Schaum's Series

is one of the highly suggested books. This book is recommended if you want to gain a thorough knowledge of the subject.

However, there are other alternatives to this book which can be considered as well.

Thank you!

Iam twenty seven years old and have completed Mechanical Engineering in 2015 and have been working as Software engineer in IT since then But my passion has been in Physics and want to enter in to research in Astronomy or Quantum Mechanics Can anyone please suggest how should i proceed

Suraj kumar 11th Jun, 2021
I give you easy idea if you have time than try to score in gate exam that gives you opportunity in research in physics paper that helps you better understand in that after cleaning gate exam if you given your efforts and also try to given good college entrance exam if you passed then government's college give you chance to teach btech students bsc students and many others facility after all you also try to pg entrance test in physics of university exam that also give you lots of things
Then come out from comfort zone and start solving pyq of that exam papers that asked university in her entrance and learn it make notes and lots of things on internet is free learn syllabus ans solve problems that's giving you confidential and real taste of exam
All the best

which engineering branch highly related to quantum physics and quantum mechanics . what is its future scope

Ayush 30th Oct, 2020

Hi Candidate,

It's great to hear that you have interest in Quantum physics and Quantum mechanics!!

If we speak about the stream related to quantum physics, Engineering Physics is a good stream to which a student can look for.

The future of Engineering Physics and Quantum mechanics is very high if we take Research Opportunities, and for higher studies. You might even get chances in Space organizations too.

Hope you have got your answer! Wish you all the best for your future.

If I want to study both electrical engineering and quantum physics than is there any way to study both Or I have to choose one of them for graduation

Shivam Kumar 23rd Oct, 2020

Hello ayushjha1357,

Well, You have to choose One of Them for Under-graduation, to help you with your decision, I will suggest,

  • If you know, that quantum physics is one of them which is actually your area of enormous interest then you should go with it, without a second thought, but
  • If you are yet the explore what is actually made for you, then you should go with EE, because it will give you enough time(since it is around 40% theory & 60% practical), and you can study quantum physics through any online applied course etc... which will buy you enough time for self preparation of Quantum Physics to find if it actually is your AREA OF INTEREST or not...
  • And, in the end, if you are left with Quantum Physics to be actually your cup of tea, then you can go for further studies M.tech, M.E, and then Phd. in nation-wide and abroad too!

So, every thing depends on the above points(mainly first point), in the end, decision should be yours, choose wisely...

Hope this Helps,

All The Best, (You are going to ROCK! have faith on yourself and embrace whatever decision you take...), feel free to ask any further query...

how can graduate student enter in msc phd program from quantum mechanics

Aman Ghatiya 8th Aug, 2020

Hello Abhishek swami, Short answer, for the most part, YES you can , but there are always few exceptions! There is lot of confusing among students that you need to have Masters or have done MS for applying to PhD . But, the reality is it is in fact a good idea to apply for PhD directly after B. tech or Bachelors degree

hope it is helpful for you :)

what do we study in Quantum mechanics and how it is useful for improvement in technology

Hrisheekesh Singh 1st Aug, 2020

Hi Ayush,

Quantum mechanics, is physics at a microscopic scale. Quantum theory describes matter and energy at atomic and sub-atomic levels where classical physics does not apply due to wave-particle dual nature and the existence of the uncertainity principle.

It is useful for improvement in technology by developing Sensing, Secure communications, Computing technologies.

Feel free to ask doubts in the Comment Section.

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!
