Sambalpur University offers admission to 27 PG courses through CPET and 6 postgraduate programmes through SUET. 

Sambalpur University is a state university which was established in 1996 with an act by Odisha Legislature. The university is functioning since January 1997, offering a wide range of PG, Mphil and Phd courses. Admission to PG courses is provided through Common PG Entrance Test (CPET). Sambalpur University earlier started functioning in a rented private building and then in a government building in Ainthapali, Sambalpur from 1968 to 73. In 1973 the university was permanently shifted to its present campus called Jyoti Vihar situated at Burla, Sabalpur.
