If you want to pursue Undergraduate Engineering then no direct admission is possible, generally based on Assam CEE (Common Entrance Examination). But there is exemption that first rank holder in higher secondary is exempted from Entrance Exam. There are rare chances of applying this exemption for direct admission.
For Postgraduate admission are based on merit based or through their specific entrance test.
So, there's no direct admission in ASTU. If you are comfortable then you can go for other institutions that offers direct admission.

In terms of placements, both are competitive, but JIMS may have a slight edge in corporate networking, while MAIMS can give you an edge if you aim for academic excellence. Also, factor in travel time—long commutes can affect your overall college experience.
If you are looking for corporate exposure and networking, JIMS is the pick. If you want a more academic-focused, structured environment, MAIMS might suit you better.
