how can I learn English speaking

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 25th Mar, 2020
Hello

To learn speaking English follow below tips:-

  • First of all dont be afraid to make mistakes : You are learning a new language and you are bound to make mistakes. Your goal is to deliver a message, not perfect grammar and vocabulary. Even native English speakers make mistakes. So , don't worry about mistakes and always speak in English, it doesn't matter even if it is in bits and pieces.

  • Listen : The more you hear, the easier it will be for you to use new key expressions and words in an English conversation.

  • Read :- Read English newspapers , magazines or a novel of your choice, you will learn new words and how to use them in a sentence as well.

  • Watch English movies and serials :- It is very good way to learn English , it has an additional benefit that you get to learn native accents and pronunciation.

Thank you

I dont know English speaking but in hotel management studies is English speaking required

Sai Sri Nandan Ch 25th Mar, 2020

Hello,

Many courses do not require English proficiency to earn the certificate, but the industry demands it.

Whether or not the Hotel Management Studies course requires English Proficiency (Spoken) depends on the college you choose.

But especially in Hotel Management related courses, English is required to get good placement. ** Highly Important**.

Learning English is not a big deal. All you need to do is practice. Find a person who can correct you and start speaking to him/her. Slowly expand your circle. Overthis, watch shows or movies in English. You can start with subs and eventually remove them. In 2 months, I bet you will see improvement.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

You can start from basic level that is to read short story books or comic books, if you get bored by reading then you can watch videos on stories for children.Understand the meaning and know how the sentences are formed and make a habit of knowing the meaning of words either by searching in the dicitionary or in internet.Use those words in your daily conversation.Once you are okay with it start reading English newspaper, Novels and watch English News on TV or Mobile.Talk in English with your friends and with yourself.Do not feel shy when you make mistakes.Practice talking in English daily you might feel it hard initially but you will definitely succeed and become fluent in English.

Im in ba hons journalism 1st year and Im not able to do this course as Im not good in writing and speaking . should I drop this course and take bsc pass home science ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 17th Jan, 2020

You are still in your first year and you cannot become an Arnab Goswami or Gulzar saab overnight, Urvashi. You have to give yourself a chance at life and academics more importantly. You enter your 1st year with a clean slate because you are still new to this field. No one enters Journalism because they are good at writing and speaking. That is why you do not see every Journalism student as a Burkha Dutt or an orator on the screen. There are quite a no.of degree holders who work behind the screens and still have a job satisfaction. You will learn the art slowly. No one is a winner over night. It is a process. If I were to suggest you as what you should do, my suggestion would be not to give up just yet. Complete your first year and give it a while. During your summer holidays, take up internships or attend workshops and get a hang of it. By 2nd year, you will be ready and you can then take a call accordingly. Because few years down the lane, you should not have any regrets.

hy this is Sam from India, i have compeleted my graduation in 2015 and now i,m doing a job in a company for 4 years. i have over all 6 bands in IELTS (Listening 6, speaking 6, writing 6, reading 5.5) am i elegible for UK study visa? please let me know

Kanupriya Gupta 28th Jan, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

A 6 band indicates competent English. It implies that you are good at English but you perform good in the situations you know well, while in other situations which are unfamiliar or specialised, you face difficulty. So, that means you are eligible but it depends upon the job you are applying for or the university you are applying for. But your scores are pretty good for the same.

Hope this helps. All the best!
