If my grandmother is of Tamil Nadu domicile, can I get into vit through stars scheme?

Aditya 14th Sep, 2021

Hi aspirant,

Yes you can get in VIT as you will be considered of TN domicile as well but some criterias need to be fulfilled.

Stars scheme is a appreciative campaign by VIT management that aims to provide poor, deprived and meritorious students from rural areas of Tamilnadu to study and grow at one of the top colleges in India. VIT Management Stands tall as it takes these children in its fold through the STARS scheme (SUPPORT THE ADVANCEMENT OF RURAL STUDENTS). Financially disadvantaged children don’t have to stop dreaming of becoming an Engineer. VIT STARS Scheme helps these students from under privileged background to achieve what they deserve by giving them 100% fee waiver for their academic and hostel facilities including basic medical expenses.

To be eligible for this program the annual income of family needs to be less than 1.5 lacs.  The procedure is as follows:

  • Top Ten boys and girls from Rural Government schools are shortlisted for the scheme (Government Schools located under Corporation, Municipality, Town panchayat limits are not eligible).
  • Such identified District toppers will be called for an interview based on marks secured in their Higher Secondary examination. Among them, one male and one female student will be admitted, after the results are published.
  • Final admissions to STARS scheme will be decided by the VIT Management

To know more about it, visit https://vit.ac.in/stars-support-advancement-rural-students-0

Note- There is personal inspection of families condition by the management.

Hope it helps!!

If NEET 2022 is cancelled in Tamil Nadu , what marks will be taken for admission selection in Madras Medical College (MMC) ?

pdwords Student Expert 12th Sep, 2021

Hello,

So far there hasn't been a case when NEET wasn't conducted, especially if you have a look at last year or even this year for that matter not only NEET but even other national level exam such as JEE Main was conducted (of course with all the precautions being taken) even amidst the pandemic, moreover last year even those candidates who missed NEET on the first schedule were given opportunity to appear for the second time, in fact from last year itself NEET has become the sole gateway for admission to undergraduate medical science courses such as MBBS/BDS/Ayush etc, if next year NEET takes place as per the usual schedule then there is still more than eight and half months left, and if at all NEET is cancelled (hypothetically speaking though the chances seem quite nil) it shall impact the admission process of medical colleges all over India, MMC is one of the top medical college, if we go through previous year data for general category the cut-off has been 618 through home state quota and 640 through AIQ, of course this year cut-offs can get increased by 40-50 marks, it's tough to make predictions regarding the alternative method and marks required for the same, as it is to even think of admission of medical science courses without NEET, hence don't go by these assumptions, just focus on your studies and preparation of the exam if you intend to appear for the same,

If NEET 2022 is cancelled in Tamil Nadu , how will the admission selection be done to get a seat in Madras Medical College (MMC) ?

pdwords Student Expert 12th Sep, 2021

Hello,

Firstly the question you have posed is hypothetical one, NEET is mandatory for admission of medical science course whether it's MBBS/BDS/Ayush etc, and since last year even AIIMS and JIPMER exam have been respectively scrapped, 2022 is still a long time to go even if we assume next year NEET to be conducted on first sunday of May, we still have more than eight and half months, and NEET has already been conducted and is being conducted for 2020 and 2021 respectively in spite of the pandemic, of course with all precautions being taken, there is no way to believe why NEET will not be conducted next year, especially when things are improving as of now, and moreover NEET is a national level exam, its cancellation if at all takes place will impact the admission process of colleges all over India, there is no need to go for assumptions regarding this, just focus on your studies and preparation, if you need help regarding NEET preparation then we have NEET Knockout Program which has video lectures from esteemed faculty, smart study materials, chat section in case you have any doubts, test series, performance analysis, there is also personalized study planner etc, visit our page at https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-neet-may/ regarding this.
