My first recommendation would be Petroleum Engineering since it is the core branch of UPES and hence all the facilities and all things are to be provided by the institute in an excellent manner to petroleum students than to any other branch. My second recommendation would be Computer Science with specialization in Cyber Security since there is a lot of future scopes in computer science. Hope you are doing great as per the question asked by you UPES dehradoon was established in 2003. UPES is one of the  premier college of India by offering different branches like Energy, Infrastructure, Transportation, Information Technology, Design, Planning & Architecture, Public Policy and Legal studies. See, both colleges are expensive but comparatively Amity University Lucknow is less expensive than UPES. The fee for only 1st semster of UPES is equal to 2 semester fee of Amity. The placement record of UPES for B.Tech CSE is better than Amity. The highest salary package at Amity is around 15 LPA but at UPES it is around 44LPA. The companies visiting the Amity are Wipro, Axis bank, Infogain, HCL etc. The companies visiting the UPES for recruitment are Microsoft , Google, IBM, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Amazon,  Rakuten, Hitachi, HCL, Nagarro, VMware, ZS Associates, Cognizant, TTN, etc.

Even though you have a good score I wouldn't recommend applying through direct admission. There are just 10 percent seats for board-merit candidates, plus there will be candidates that might have scored the same as you even more than you. Hence, direct admissions are a little risky.

Rest be assured, with 80%+ in boards plus your JEE mains percentile, (a rank list is also prepared as per JEE marks of a candidate) there is a fair chance you might get CS but not the top specializations like CCVT.

In addition, it is always best to apply through UPESEAT rank to be on the safe side as 80 percent of the seats are filled using the rank. On top of that, if you have written your exam well, you can secure CSE with a specialization under 9k rank.

Talking about amity Lucknow and UPES. UPES is better.

The fee structures of both are almost the same, but UPES offers 10+ CSE courses and the placement opportunities are better in UPES.

UPES Dehradun is definitely a well - known college established in the year 2003. It has a good placement record with highest CTC INR 45 LAC in 2020. They have a great faculty and the classes are focused on practical knowledge. The campus buildings are modern and have all necessary equipment with projectors in each class. The campus is surrounded by mountains and greenery.

10% of the seats are reserved for admission on the basis of board (class 12th) marks. You can definitely get admission in CS or IT branch if you clear the cut off percentage for admission in respective branches. Minimum 80% Marks at Higher & Senior Secondary Level (classes 10th and 12th) and Minimum 80% aggregate in PCM in class 12th is required to be eligible for admission process.

UPESEAT exam is comparatively easier than JEE mains. The marking scheme is +1 for correct and 0 negative marking. Practicing previous year questions is very useful in cracking this exam.

Their is no fixed branch-wise cut off for UPESEAT. If there are other students with same rank as you then aggregate PCM marks will be given preference. For further info visit -
