At the start of the WBJEE counselling process there is a option where you have to choose that whether you want to start counselling process by your WBJEE rank or by your JEE MAIN rank or both simultaneously. Your choice filling options will be given to you according to which entrance exam counselling you chose .

Coming to your second question if your son gave WBJEE roll number in the place of JEE MAIN roll number then it is a very serious problem. You should contact WBJEEB to correct this otherwise choice filing option will not be given to you properly as well as you will face serious problems.

You got 16700 rank in wbjee 2020. Yo u got a seat in coachbehar government engineering college in electrical department.

Look, your rank in wbjee is medium good. Below 10k rank is good for getting seats for wbjee. So, beside CGEC you may get private ones.

In Coachbehar government engg college has hostel facility. As it is a government college, hostel changes & fees are also very less. So, you may go for it.

According to seat allotments trends of previous years ,  your chances to get IT in Jadavpur University and KGEC ( Kalyani Government Engineering College ) are negative. But there's positive opportunity for you to get the same departments in the government colleges like JGEC ( Jalpaiguri government engineering college ) , government college of engineering  and textile technology, government college of engineering and ceramic technology, government college of engineering and leather technology etc.

JU is only college in wbjee counselling in which B.Pharm admission is taken on the basis of GMR ( General Merit  rank ) . In all the other colleges ( Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical science and technology , jalpaiguri government engineering college,  Adamas University , Brainware University , Techno India )  pharmacy undergraduate admission is done on the basis of PMR ( Pharmacy Merit Rank ) . So if your target is JU then you must have good GMR rank but if any other college then Mathematics marks in WBJEE will not be of any concern of yours. You only have to focus only on the pmr rank.

According to your rank JU CSE is next to impossible for you but you can easily get cse in any other wbjee college gurantee.

According to your opinion you should opt for IEM

You will definitely get that. If your dream is get admission in government colleges then you should go for KGEC . But overall IEM is the best choice based on placement.

But one reminder that you can get almost any department in JU other than CSE ,  IT , ECE based on your rank. But as your passion is in CSE then you go for JEE MAIN Counselling also.
