After completing bsc ott, what's the ideal plan for those seeking a secure govt. job ? Msc or private job for experience & resume updation. Does MSc add to your experience ? Please guide.
Hello Aspirant,
After finishing B.Sc. in OTT (Operation Theatre Technology), your career direction depends on securing a government position or building a career in the private sector:
- For Government Jobs: Most government hospitals/institutes only require a B.Sc. in order to get a technical position. Instead of pursuing M.Sc. immediately, you can prepare for the government exams (through All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), State Health Department recruitment, Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB), etc.) where the OTT graduates are eligible.
- For Private Sector: If you want to strengthen your profile for the top private hospitals you can gain 1-2 years of work experience. This 1-2 years of working experience will help you get the experience you need to strengthen your resume more than pursuing M.Sc. in OTT.
- M.Sc. Value: M.Sc. in OTT/or related streams provides academic qualification and eligibility for a teaching or research role; however, it does not provide you with actual work experience. It is helpful if you are planning for further studies, research-based studies or intending role of a lecturer.
Ideal Plan: If you intend to pursue a secure government job - at the completion of B.Sc., prepare for competitive exams. If you intend to keep options open for both, take experience working in the private hospital and consider a M.Sc. at a later date for long-term.
