As per the norms, candidate of any age is eligible to apply for the exam, but he/she can write jee mains only in three consecutive years from passing their class 12. And now the exam is conducted 4 times a year, means you have total 12 attempts for JEE Mains from the 12th class passing year. For example: if you are preparing for 12th board exams for 2022, the you can attempt the JEE Mains of 2022, 2023 and 2024 year.

You can only write JEE Mains in 3 consecutive years from the year you complete your 12 th standard and JEE Advanced 2 attempts. But in 2021 JEE Mains is conducted 4 times and you can write all the 4 exams in 2021.
After completion of 3 attempts of JEE Mains you can't re-write JEE Mains. Only 3 attempts are allowed for the candidates for 3 years.
The JEE Mains score is valid for the current year only.
