Your marks are good but not that much good so you can take admission in Thapar through merit basis. You need minimum 90% to get any of the branch in Thapar for the safe side. And for CSE your percentage should be more than 97%.

As you wants to take admission in electronics and computer engineering so the you need more than 95%.

The data I've given above is for the previous year where only 30% seats are filled by merit bases but this year they take their 100% admission only through the merit basis so may be you can see the fall in cutoff but not that much so that you can get electronics and computer engineering with 78% marks.

For getting admission in Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology following are the criteria:

• Qualifying Examination and Marks Required:

1. Student needs to have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with atleast 70% aggregate of 3 subjects - Mathematics, Physics and any one of Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject/Chemistry. It is 65% for SC and ST candidates.
2. Apart from this, students with a diploma from any AICTE approved institute or a state board of technical education of at least 3 year tenure with minimum 60% will also be eligible for admission. It is 55% for SC and ST candidates.

• JEE Main

1. Student should have qualifued JEE Main 2021.
2. He/She should have scored minimum 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent qualifying examination. It is 10% for SC and ST candidates.

If you are able to clear these criteria including others like age, nationality and compulsory subjects then only you will be able to get admission in TIET.
And for your desired branch there will be a separate cutoff set by the institute which you will have to clear in order to get into it. For instance, in 2020 the last rank for 3rd round was around 257000. It varies every year.
