HELLO PRASANTHI

There are thousands of scopes for girls in Chemical Engineering…

I would like to highlight a few points in this regard.

·         Chemical Engineering is one of the most underrated branches of Engineering in India. Be it the lack of required instruments, or lack of Government aid, Chemical Engineering Degree is unavailable in most colleges, except the premier ones. This brings in a notion, that the subject will not be of a prime help in terms of placement scope (The only place where most Indians focus).

·         Also, the companies available in India, particularly PSUs, are difficult to get in, as they primarily recruit through GATE. Other top MNC’s too have a limiting restriction on the total number of annual graduate intake. This brings the subject to a matter of worry.

·         The field of Chemical Engineering is huge. On one hand, we have to undertake modelling and simulation processes, while on the other work in field. Generally parents disregard the thought of girls working in such harsh conditions, hence are reluctant to this field. But Chemical Engineering doesn’t mean that you need to extract oil all by yourself, we have machines and technicians for that purpose. So yes, like any other field, this too is has a lot of white collar job activities. And most importantly, from your toothpaste in the morning to your reading glasses for night, everything needs a Chemical Engineer.

a.      Chemical Engineering is highly rewarding. Almost all the companies have an excellent package, as well as facilities. Note: Petroleum Engineering is a special dimension of Chemical Engineering.

·         .

·         In the upcoming years, petroleum will be the most dominating factor of a country’s economy. Moreover, as per global energy requirements, nuclear energy will be the solution in all aspects. Also renewable sources of energy will come into the limelight. Now to analyse and all these into daily lives, you can easily rely upon a chemical engineer.

Till now I have given the reasons to choose Chemical Engineering.

But what will be the scope of a girl in this field?

Well, it is very weird to bind gender with profession. If you are interested, dedicated and passionate, nothing can stop you from achieving success. And no subject is “A Man Thing”, it is easily a woman’s thing too. Besides, there are a lot of advantages that a girl receives, when comparing to a guy. There are a few job vacancy windows restricted only to girls.

I also read through an article that told Shell will be recruiting women, who have been detached from their work, owing to maternity and other duties.

SO yes , the scope is enormous.

Hello Prasanthi.

I would like to inform you that there is nothing difficulty in taking these two branches if you are a girl. Infact Biotechnology is mostle favoured by girls and there is atleast a 60-40 ration of girls to boys in most of the colleges. SOme of the colleges even have higher ratios. When it comes to Job Sector its not at all difficult a job.
