Yes, it is possible to do MS in Computer Science in IIT, Madras after completing B.Tech in Information Technology through GATE exam. If you check the GATE application, you can see that people from any stream can give the GATE paper for CS. Only you need is to get a good rank in GATE. Try, work hard and you can succeed.

thanks for asking the query ,as in gate there is only requirement to get desire branch is to get appropriate marks to clear the cutoff therefore you can do ms in computer science from iit the only thing is to cross the cutoff marks for the desired branch.

Yes, you can do M.S in Computer Science from IIT Madras, provided you satisfy all the eligibility criteria. You can do M.Tech in IIT Madras too. MTech is more of a course oriented program whereas MS is research oriented.

As you are talking about the eligibility if you can take up Computer science as your stream in Masters (Mtech as you are going to take GATE exam) after Btech in Information technology branch, it's possible to do so(but have to clear GATE exam with cutoff required by IIT Madras, as you have mentioned it). You can have a good career growth too. As IT and CSE in Btech have no much difference (regarding the subjects taught), you can catch up with the subject in Mtech. It is just that, while filling the application form of GATE exam, you need to specify the subjects of CSE (as you are writing computer science paper).
