HBTU is a prestigious college in North India. Since this year due to the corona pandemic most of the colleges have decided to take admission on behalf of JEE Mains result.
Now since you're expecting or you have 40k rank in JEE Mains it is sure that you're surely eligible to take admission in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Electronics branch in the college . But for CS and IT if you belong to any category other than general than you have some chances to be get selected. Other criterias depends on the Institution managenent.
So I think that if you only want to get CSE branch in HBTU and you belong to general category than you may give one try for admission, otherwise you may get to other good colleges as well and on behalf of your rank I assure you can easily get any good and renowned institution.
