Public sector undertakings (PSUs) are giving the employment opportunities in various posts for which notifications will be released individually by each PSU.
Selection criteria varies with your cutoff marks in Gate.
These cutoff marks vary accordingly as per corporation,  discipline and category of the candidate. Since the present cutoff score is not given you can check the previous year cutoff marks by using the below link

Yes , a good GATE scorecard and a good core private job has no relevance at all. GATE score is required for recruitment into public sector companies which are undertakings of the central or the state government . Further private companies don't hire through GATE score. but if you have good GATE score you will have edge over others, who are in competition.
But some times your good GATE score may reduce the chances of getting job in private company.
