Greetings! Here's a detailed response to your query

Usually, these exams are there to help schools and colleges pick the students who will do well. So, they test if you really understand the basics and can use what you've learned.

The number of seats available changes from place to place and course to course. If a school or course is popular, there won't be many seats, making it harder to get in. You can usually find out how many seats there are in the information they give out before you apply.

Getting in with a lower score is possible sometimes, but it's not the usual way. If some students who got accepted don't join, the school might look at the next people on the list, who might have scored a bit less. Also, some places look at other things besides just your test score, like your past grades or what you do outside of school. They might also have special spots saved for certain groups of people, and the score needed for those might be lower. If not many people apply, the score needed to get in might also be lower. But, generally, it's always best to try and score as high as you can on the entrance exam.

I hope this helps.
