Hello,
First year for all the 4 year BTech courses in NITs are common. And you would have to study in a class full of people from all the branches. It is done so that every student gets minimum exposure to all the branches and also get acquainted to each other. It is also one of the major reasons why there is internal sliding allowed after first year as the syllabus studied till then is same.

You would be studying basic subjects like phy, maths, chemistry, mechanics, basic electrical and basic electronics along with Engg. Drawing and mechanical workshop. These don't have a use for CS Engg. As such but still it gives you basic knowledge about all the branches.
Thank You

Hi aspirant

thanks for asking your query as in different nits rules are different many nits have two sections for same branch or same class for one branch therefore it could not be predicted easily .

To clarify such doubts you should contact your seniors.
