Median:-

The median in statistics is the middle value of a set of numbers. It is the point at which exactly half of the data lies below and above the central value.

The median of the data has been referred as the second quartile Q 2 . Also, the first quartile Q 1 is the median of the first half of the data, and the third quartile Q 3 is the median of the second half of the data. Quartile deviation is the dispersion in the middle of the data.


Quartile deviation :-

The Quartile Deviation (QD) is the product of half of the difference between the upper and. lower quartiles. Mathematically we can define as: Quartile Deviation = (Q3 – Q1) / 2. Quartile Deviation defines the absolute measure of dispersion.

The quartile deviation formula is. Q.D. = Q3-Q1/ 2. Example – Quartiles are values that divide a list of numbers into quarters.
