Before 2018 , it was mandatory to qualify cutoff marks in NEET examination. Then, NEET exam was only for some selected colleges and universities . And many courses were not included to meet the requirement of getting cutoff marks in NEET examination. However , Since 2018 , it is mandatory to qualify in NEET to study BDS abroad. The qualification marks will be different according to your caste criteria.

Yes as per the MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA, Indian Students who aspire to study medicine ( BDS, MBBS, MD etc) outside India , have to qualify the NEET examination as a prerequisite. The step is apparently taken to ensure that meritorious medical course candidates are going abroad to pursue dental education.
