Hi Mam,97.5 percentile in JEE Mains converts to around 18000-20000 in rank, while the cutoff for the last round admission to NIT Trichy for general category in the home state was 4041 and for other states, it was 1140 for the year 2018. For 2017 it was 4912 and 2120 for home and other states respectively, so your son really doesn't have a chance for NIT, Trichy Computer Science. He should probably try for other good colleges like NSIT, DTU, BIT Mesra, IIEST Shibpur, etc.
Congratulation on his score
As per the percentile, your child's rank will be in the range of 25k to 28k. The closing rank for CSE in 2018 in NIT Trichy was around 4k AIR. So, if we consider last year cutoff then there is no chance for cse. But he may get CIVIL in the spot round.
Hello Mahalakshmi,
NIT and IIT allocate admission on basis of rank because percentile depends on number of applicants and highest score so it is difficult to comment on it.
Last year NIT trichy cut off (Rank) was :
Opening rank 982 and closing rank 4041 (Home state)
Opening rank 227 and closing rank 1140 (other state)
