Three.

So basically, Three attempts counting your attempts from 2017 are valid. If you gave the exam in 2017, that is counted as your first attempt in a maximum of three.

Hopefully you won’t need them :)

Hi Aniket, there are various news and rumors about the attempts like 9,14 etc.. But i would like to inform that there is no such communication from any reliable source LIKE CBSE, Health ministry, MCI/NMC
So till date the rule stand as

Counting of Attempts - from 2017 onward, means any attempt prior to 2016 will not be counted in 3 attempts, if student appeared in NEET UG 2017, that will be considered as first attempt....
Age criteria - minimum 17 yrs... MAXIMUM - no upper limit...
Hopefully it helps

In neet, as of 2017, 3 attempts are the maximum allowed.

Hello Aniket,

From now on there will be only 3 attempts one can give irrespective of categories.

    • If you have given NEET in 2017 and again giving in 2018 , your 1st attempt will be counted from NEET 2018 irrespective of previous attempts.
Gautam Manohar 21st Dec, 2017
Hi ,As per the existing rule which is expected to apply for NEET 2018 as well, a candidate can appear for NEET a maximum of three times. However, the following criteria will be applicable:

If a candidate has already appeared for NEET in 2017, then that would be counted as the candidates first attempt and then a candidate can only appear two more times.

If any aspirant is planning to appear for NEET for the first time in 2018, then the candidate can appear for NEET 2018 and a further two times (total three times).

There has been news that it's been increased up to 9 times for unreserved and 14 times for reserved category from 2018. But it's not yet been confirmed officially. So wait till the prospectus is released and good luck with your exams :)

As per the last year's government rule of number of attempts to be given to a student to appear for NEET examination it is that he she would like to give the NEET examination for maximum three times after the three attempts in your life of NEET examination you can't have an another fourth attempt to give the NEET examination.

As of 2017, total of 3 attempts only is allowed for neet.
If you had attempted already in 2016, you will have only 2 more attempts.
So work carefully and smart.
All the best!

Hello
As per the latest directions of the National Board you are allowed to appear for the examination for a maximum of three times starting from the year 2017
If you have not yet appeared then you have 3 chances irrespective of which year or at what age you are taking it but if you've already appeared in the year 2017 then you have two chances left . However if you have appeared for one or more times before 2017 that will not be taken into account interview of your 3 chances allotted to take Neet
Hope this helps, thank you

Udochi Ugonna Onyeike 21st Dec, 2017

Hello,

For the new rule, only 3 attempts are required

all the best!

Nikita Chauhan 21st Dec, 2017
After endless discrepancies Regarding the number of attempts, it has been finalized that the number of attempts allowed for appearing for NEET-UG examination is 3 ONLY irrespective of the number of attempts given previously.
This law has come into force since 2017. So if you've given NEET-UG examination last year, you have exhausted one attempt and have 2 attempts left.
Anbarasan T 20th Dec, 2017
Hey hi,

The no of attempts in NEET is limited to three. This will count from 2017. Attempts prior to 2017 will not be counted.
