Hello,

If you are a dropper but appearing in class 12th as a regular student, you should select for the code of "appearing in class 12 in 2026" (or whichever year you will be taking the 12th exam) in your JEE Mains form. Make sure you fill in all the necessary information correctly.

Hello,

Since you are appearing for class 12th again as a regular student , you should select the “appearing in class 12th” option (student code 1 ) in the JEE Main application form.

You should not select the dropper code, because that is meant for students who have already passed class 12th in a previous year and are not reappearing .

So, choose Code 1 – Appearing in class 12th in 2025 .

Hope it helps !

Hello,

You should fill in "12th student" in the JEE Main application form, as that reflects your status as a current, regular student, not as an improvement candidate. The "dropper" code is for the candidate that already completed their 12th grade, but you are appearing for the 12th grade exam again.

I hope it will clear your query!!

Hello dear candidate,

As per your situation you will need to select code 1 which states that you are appearing class 12th in current year as you are appearing in class 12th again this year as a regular student.

I hope you find this information helpful. Thank you.

You will have to fill the student code as a 12th student, going the other way around and coding for a dropper will raise concerns as you would have a separate 12th marksheet for the eligibility in college counselling later. The authorities allow 6 attempts in three consecutive years after 12th.

Hello,

In your case, since you are appearing for Class 12 again as a regular student, you should select the code for “appearing 12th in 2026” (usually Code 01) in the JEE Main application form.

Even though you are a dropper from the previous attempt, JEE considers your current qualifying exam status, not past attempts. So, choose the code that matches your current 12th appearance, not the one from your previous year.

Hope you understand.
