Csab special round counselling is conducted by central seat allocation board and is organised for filling the vacant seat into NITs, IIITs, gftis and IIEST.
Now in CSAB special round counselling your CRL rank is used for counseling and seat allocation . Because as per the previous year cutoff Trends I have also observed that all the ranks written in each category are not the category ranks, it's the CRL ranks for every category.

So that means this year too, csab special round counseling will be conducted on the CRL rank.

Now, Crl Rank means your rank among the total candidates that a appeared in examination including all categories as well as subcategories. And category ranks are the rank only among the candidates of that particular category.
For eg - suppose you secure 20500 gen ews rank in jee mains, then it means that among all the ews category candidate your rank is 20500. But if your rank is calculated among all the candidates who have given jee mains, then your common or open rank will be around 190000. And this is common rank is your CRL rank.
