For jee mains you should have mathematics as one of your subject and your overall percentage should be equal to or above 75% . Due to some health issue I also scored quite less marks in mathematics during my class 12th, but then I decided to give cbse improvement exam in the following year along with the preparation of jee and I took a year gap for the same. So no worries if you have have enough determination , then go ahead and give yourself another chance.

Hi aspirant, since you have got 40 marks in your mathematics exam and as you have also mentioned that you mathematics as your optional subject so one of the better option is
You should definitely go for JEE in case you don't have interest in medical studies.
Other option you may take by comparing the the marks of your Biology and Mathematics, the subject in which you have scored higher marks will be more helpful in deciding what you want to opt.
You can choose any of the above option but since it is the question related to your career you need to find out the in which whether in engineering or medical you can put your best.
