For IPMAT , the eligibility mainly focuses on Class 12 marks, not Class 10. Most IIMs conducting IPMAT (like IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak) ask for 60% or above in Class 10 and Class 12 (for General category). Since you got 61% in best 5, you actually clear the 60% criteria. Boards like CBSE usually allow calculation on the best 5 subjects for eligibility.

So yes, you are eligible for IPMAT despite your overall being 56%, because they usually consider the aggregate of best 5 subjects, not overall including additional subjects.

All the best!

For IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak IPMAT, the eligibility rule is quite strict. A candidate must have at least 60% marks in both Class 10th and Class 12th (55% for SC/ST/PwD category). Now, in your case, you mentioned that your Class 10 percentage is 56%. Unfortunately, this means you don’t meet the minimum requirement. IIMs clearly consider the overall aggregate percentage of all subjects, not the marks of your best 4 or 5 subjects. So even if your best-of-five comes above 60%, it won’t be valid. Because of this, you won’t be eligible for IPMAT Indore or Rohtak. However, don’t get discouraged. There are other good options like Christ University, NMIMS, Symbiosis, and other BBA entrance exams where eligibility criteria are different and you might easily fit. So instead of worrying about IIMs, you can start preparing for these competitive exams, as they also open doors for good career opportunities in management.

For IPMAT, eligibility is based on your overall Class 10 percentage, not just top 5 subjects. Since you have 56% overall, you may face issues if you are from the General category, as most IIMs (Rohtak, Shillong, etc.) require 60% in Class 10 and 12. However, if you belong to SC/ST/PwD, the minimum is 55%, so you would be eligible. IIM Indore does not have a fixed minimum but still gives weightage to board marks. Hence, you can apply to Indore and reserved-category friendly institutes, but not to all IIMs if you are General.
