Easily you can get nit but to get reputed nit you need to compromise your coarse

But I heard that cut off for nit in sc category was 5000 last year, is 9640 ok to get seats this year?

You can get Admission in higher nit
In Between 9000 and 10999 the percentile vary from
99.4. To 99.266
You can get Admission in nit durgapur or nit srinagar or in nit kurukshetra
