i had mistakenly filled neet pg form as general category but im obc can i correct it in verification
Hello,
Yes, in most cases, you can correct this during the document verification or counselling round. If you have valid proof of being in the OBC category and the certificate is issued as per government norms, present it at the time of verification. Some counselling authorities allow category correction if it’s supported with documents. However, it’s essential to carry both original and photocopies of your category certificate. Also, keep checking the official counselling guidelines to see if an email or correction request can be raised in advance.
Thank you!
Hello Aspirant,
You cannot change the category from OBC to General in the NEET PG application form if you have selected it incorrectly and submitted the application. Once you have submitted the application form, regardless of verification process, category once selected is final based on NBE. However, during counselling (whether conducted by MCC or state authorities), you may be able to present your valid OBC certificate during counselling and either be granted an OBC seat or the option to select one, depending on the counselling rules.
Make sure you have all of your documents at the ready and check with the specific counselling authority relating to whether they will allow you to remedy selections or relate your category by option in regard to documents.
Hello,
If you mistakenly filled out the NEET PG form as a general category but you are an OBC category. Don't worry; you can still correct it in the final correction window. But if you miss this final correction window, then you can't change your mistake and will be treated as a general category student and won't get any OBC category benefits.
I hope it clears your query!!
if you filled your neet pg from GC(general category) but you are belong to OBC, you can change your category during the official correction window given by NBE. this correction window provided after registration only for the limited period of time . After the correction window closes, category changes are not allowed by them. IF your correction window closed you need to continue as general candidate. For future exams, always carefully check and utilize the correction period to fix your errors.
If you mistakenly selected "General" instead of "OBC" in your NEET PG application form, you can correct it only during the official correction window provided by the exam authority. This is the time when you're allowed to edit specific details in your form, including category.
If the correction window has already closed, you will not be able to change your category to OBC during document verification or counselling. The authorities do not allow category changes after the application and correction process is over.
If you selected general category by mistake in your NEET PG 2025 form but you actually belong to OBC category, then you can only change it during the official correction window. That correction window was open from May 9 to May 13, 2025. If you missed that time, then you cannot change the category now.
During NEET PG counselling, the category you filled in the application form is final. You cannot change it from general to OBC at the time of document verification or counselling.
Only in some special cases in the past, candidates were allowed to change from a reserved category to general. But changing from general to reserved like OBC is not allowed after the correction window is closed.
So, if your form shows general category now, and you did not update it in the correction time, then you will not get the benefit of OBC reservation. Your seat allotment will happen as a general category candidate.
You can still contact the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) helpline to check if there is any exception, but normally they do not allow this kind of change after the deadline.
