It is very common for students to be appearing for improvement exams after they have had somewhat less score in the previous examinations. The purpose of improvement examination is itself to get an upper hand on the the examinational merit or to check the eligibility criteria, You are allowed to fill up with the latest results and register for JEE MAINS 2026 with no issues.
Hello, This is a critical question. Here is the correct way to fill out the form:
- 12th Passing Year: Your "Year of Passing Class 12th" will be 2024. This is the year you first successfully cleared the board exam. This date does not change, even if you take an improvement exam.
- Marks of 12th: You must fill in the new, better marks from your 2025 improvement exam. NTA/JoSAA rules explicitly allow you to use the improved marks to meet the 75% eligibility criteria.
When filling out the academic details, you will select "2024" as your passing year. Then, in the fields for roll number and marks, you should enter the roll number and subject-wise marks from your 2025 improvement marksheet. You must keep both marksheets (the 2024 pass certificate and the 2025 improvement marksheet) safe, as you will need to present both during JoSAA counselling to verify your eligibility.

Hi,
Your class 12th passing year would be 2025, as your improvement exam marks have replaced your previous marks. You should enter 2025 as the passing year for JEE Mains 2026, as NTA considers the year in which you last appeared and passed all the subjects, even if you originally passed earlier.
Hope it helps!!!
