If I am having both the subjects math and biology I can take up this course ??
Please clarify your doubt....about what you actually want to know.
For further information, if you are in 12th with the PCMB as your subject then after your 12th the following can be your option.
1. Medical line
Basically, in this course, you need biology the most and there is no requirement of mathematics. You have to qualify the NEET exam to build your career in this line. In NEET, there are mainly 3 sections including biology physics and chemistry. You will get 45 qns from physics and 45 qns from chemistry whereas you will get 90 qns from biology which will include both botany and zoology. However, the total time period will be 3 hours. And also you can get admission through the entrance examination known as AIIMS.
2. Engineering line
In this career path mathematics is the most important one. You have to qualify the JEE MAINS exam to study in this path. However, there are some other private college entrance exams through which you can get admission. In this exam, you will have to face qns from mathematics physics and chemistry.
3. BSc line
In this type, you will get admission on the basis of your 12th result and merit list provided by the colleges you have applied. Here there is no limitation in what you have as your subject in 12th. You will get admission according to your wish. There are many streams like mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, microbiology etc.
4. Research line
In this path, you can have either both or any one or mandatory both that depend upon the entrance exam you are giving. There are certain entrance exams such as KVPY, NEST where you have to face the qns from both math and biology along with physics and chemistry but you have to answer either in any 3 in NEST but in KVPY you have attend all of them.
I have given you some possible cases. Hope you have got your answer. If not do no hesitate to inform me. I will help you with more information.
Thank you
Hello Vishakha,
You haven't mentioned the name of any course.
PCMB as a subject combination opens up a whole lot of opportunities for you.
1. Engineering: Since the PCM subject combos are required for the Engineering entrance exam, that's one stream you can look at. Having said that, it's your interest that matters. There are various streams of Engineering: Computer Science, IT, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical(there are colleges offering specialized courses in Chemical Technology, too). You can check the Internet for more options in Engineering.
2. Pure Sciences: IISER is an institution of great repute for pure sciences. They have a specific procedure for admission which you will have to check out. IISER across India has many centers.
3. Medical: Since you have PCB also, medical is an option you can ponder over. They have a specific entrance exam too. Institutes like AIIMS and AFMC have their own entrance exams too, I believe. You can, again, check the Internet for more information. There are also options like Dental, Physiotherapy, Nutritionist, etc.
4. BSc.: This is a 3-year course. There are options like BSc. Chemistry/Maths/Physics/IT/BioAnalytical Science, etc.
Hope this will help.
