If you’ve got a compartment in 12th CBSE mathematics, you have two options either appear for the compartment exam next year or switch to NIOS for that one subject.

If you’re okay with waiting a few months, the best option is to appear for the CBSE compartment exam itself. That way, your main 12th board remains from CBSE, which is widely accepted and smooth when applying for higher studies. You’ll also be eligible to join most mainstream colleges once you pass the subject.

On the other hand, if you’ve faced repeated backlogs or feel that CBSE’s pattern is not helping you, NIOS can be a fresh option. NIOS is recognized and allows you to appear for the subject at your own pace. But, note that some universities may require clarification if you appear from two different boards.

If you have a compartment in 12th CBSE Mathematics, you have two primary options:

CBSE Compartment Exam (Next Attempt)

• Pros:  You will still be a CBSE student, and your mark sheet will be the same acceptance marks, just with the new updated marks.
• Cons: You will have three chances (Along with July and next year).
• Best for: If you think you will be able to clear with some more preparation.

NIOS On-Demand Exam (Mathematics only)

• Pros: It costs 49 dollars CAD per session, and you can present when you are prepared.
• Cons: You will have a separate Mathematics mark sheet from NIOS, and a few colleges may not easily accept this for regular admissions.
• Best for: If you want to move on quickly or you're a student that needs wiggle room.  Then take the NIOS exam.

If you think you can prepare well - I recommend taking the CBSE Compartment. It should easily be accepted and avoids headaches. Only consider NIOS if you've taken your three chances with CBSE, or you're looking for a path that has a little more wiggle room.
