Class 12 weightage is not added to determine the merit but it will decide whether you are eligible to get admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs or not. You need to score 75% in class 12 if you belong to general category or 65% in case if you belong to SC/ST category to get admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs. You have not mentioned the marks which you have scored in class 12 check if you have the above mentioned percentage including the practical marks, if you have the required percentage then you don't need to appear in the improvement exam but it is your wish, if you want to improve then you can go for it.
