Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology Shibpur is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. It has been ranked at 45th position by NIRF among universities of India. In Engineering, it has received a rank at 21st position. IIEST Shibpur is far better than many NITs and have proper placements for civil engineering students. But compared to Computer Science and IT branches the placement percentage is less in Civil department. Companies such as Larsen and Tubro Construction, Shapoorji, St. Gobains, Maruti Suzuki etc hire civil engineers from the institute with an average package of 4.5 to 5 lpa.
