dear student,

Well, for the batch admitted in 2011, the two branches used to differ only in terms of the course structure and faculty which itself wasn't very significant as there were only a couple of subjects which were taught in one branch and not the other. And believe me, the branch which didn't have to study certain subjects like Microprocessors were actually better off !!

In terms of campus recruitment, almost all IT majors including the ones which offer dream packages(like Facebook, Amazon, DirectI, Goldman Sachs, D. E. Shaw, Epic Systems, Microsoft and more) consider students from both the branches for their recruitment process. Only a few companies recruit students from Computer Science department alone, but that factor is entirely driven by the requirements of the visiting company.

However, recently both the branches have been merged into a single Computer Science department. So, they have the same faculty and the placement process will eventually be alike.
