Hello Siddhartha,

According to Wikipedia, Economically Backward Classes (EBCs) or Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) in India is a category of people having an annual income less than ₹8 lakhs and who do not belong to any reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC.

If an EBC(Economically Backward Class) now earns above the limit they will be recognized as General category.

Good luck!

First of all, you can't force yourself to come under some category, you need valid documents and Government authorized certificated for that. Following are the list of documents you will be needing -Documents for Date of BirthBirth certificate under the Birth. Death and Marriage Certificate Act. 1969.Hospital/Auxiliary nurse and Midwife. (ANM) register record.Anganwadi Record.Declaration of the age of the child by the parents or guardian.Documents for Proof of Present Residential Address:-Ration card in the name of Parents having the name of the Child in Ration card.Domicile certificate of the child or his/her parents.Voter I card of any of the parents.Electricity Bill/MTNL telephone bill/Water bill.Unique Identity Card (Aadhar) of Mother/Father/Child issued by Govt. of India.Passport in the name of any of the parents or child.Documents for Proof of Economically Weaker Section (EWS):- Income. certificate issued by a  Revenue Officer, not below the rank of TehsildarBPL Ration Card (Yellow colored)AAY Ration Card (pink colored)Food Security card. issued by Food & supply Dept. (GNCT of Delhi)Documents for Proof of Disadvantage Group (DG):-.Caste Certificate issued by Revenue Dept. GNCT Delhi (DC Office) in respect of SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of child parents.Medical Certificate issued by Govt. Hospital in respect of child with Special Needs/Disabled.Documentary evidence for Orphan. Documentary evidence for Transgender.Aadhaar Card Aadhaar card is mandatory documents for both the category i.e. EWS & DG if you no aadhaar card then you can use the aadhaar enrolment registration number which is enlisted on the slip which you have received from the aadhaar card center. How to Apply for EWS Certificate?Let me tell you that no online method has been implemented yet to apply for the EWS Reservation. To apply for this certification you will have to adopt the offline method in any of the two ways below:-You can contact your Local Govt. Authority (Tehsil). However, it may take a lot of time. You can contact an Agent in Jan Sewa Kendra (CSC) nearby your location. In this way, your work will be done faster, because of their good link in Tehsil. You can go to Google search and find your nearest CSC.Go there, and submit your required documents. They will fill the EWS Certificate Form and do the entire work for you. After that, wait for a month and you will get your EWS Certificate.I hope you got your proper answer.
