When you finish MBBS, you can either go for MD or MS. Both are postgraduate courses but the main difference is in the type of work you’ll be doing in the future.

MD ( Doctor of Medicine)

  • If you choose MD, you are basically entering the medicine side without surgeries. Your focus will be on diagnosing the problem, finding out what disease the patient has, and treating it with medicines, therapies, and lifestyle advice.
  • Specializations under MD include General Medicine, Pediatrics (children), Radiology (scans and imaging), Dermatology (skin), Psychiatry (mental health), Anaesthesia, etc.

MS ( Master of Surgery)

  • If you choose MS, you’ll be on the surgical side. Your main role will be to treat patients by performing operations.
  • Specializations under MS include General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology (eye), ENT, etc.
  • MS doctors spend a lot of time in the operation theatre (OT), handling instruments, performing surgeries, and also managing patients after surgery

Thank you , hope you will understand!
