Your son's rank is average enough to get a seat in nit but he would not get good nits with good streams. He would not get nit in the first 8 rounds. He might get nit pondicherry, nit punjab, nit silchar. He has a good probability of getting gftis like assam university, bit mesra.
Hello Sir,
I regret to inform you that the rank secured by your son is not enough to secure a seat in any NIT. Probability of securing a seat in any GFTIs is also very slim but not impossible. Your son should be able to secure a seat in a low ranking GFTI.
I hope your son secures a seat :)
All the best

There is very low probability in NITs and gftis
As the competition is cutthroat nowadays
It's difficult to get admission in NITs and gftis
Many nits close at 17 k itself including north east nits and new nits for gftis it went till 21 k
There are many other colleges which offer admission like Thapar University Jadavpur University
Ur son can try for them
Sorry according to your rank you can't be able to get admission in any nit college or Government engineering College. For nit you had to scored atleast 15000 rank in OBC category.
So i suggest you to go for a private engineering college.
Or you can start your preparation if you want to get admission in nit or Government College next year.
