If your son wants to become a commercial pilot and also study BSc, it is a good plan. He can first complete his school education in any board, ISC or HSC, both are okay. He must take Physics and Maths in class 11 and 12. These subjects are important for both BSc and pilot training. After school, he can join a BSc course, like BSc in Physics or Aviation. This degree will help him understand basic science and keep more options open.

Along with BSc or after it, he can apply for a flying school. The school must be approved by DGCA. He will need to pass Class 2 and Class 1 medical tests, then finish flying hours and exams to get a Commercial Pilot License. Some colleges offer BSc Aviation with flying training also. You can also use Career360 app to check good BSc colleges and pilot training institutes. This way, he can study and fly at the same time.

Good afternoon

To become a commercial pilot in India, here’s what you actually need:

Basic Eligibility

Age: 17+

Qualification: 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics (from any recognized board: ISC, CBSE, or HSC)

Medical: DGCA Class 1 Medical Fitness

License Path:

1. Student Pilot License (SPL)

2. Private Pilot License (PPL)

3. Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

Training Duration: 18–24 months typically

Cost: 25–50 lakh depending on institute

doing a BSc while preparing for CPL, especially:

BSc Aviation / BSc Physics / BSc Maths / BSc Computer Science

It won’t delay your pilot dream much if managed properly.

Many pilots do graduation + training together or one after the other.

You DO NOT need to change the board. ISC is fully accepted by DGCA and pilot schools.

Only switch if he is genuinely struggling with ISC syllabus and need a lighter load to focus on pilot prep.

Conclusion:Stick to ISC unless you have a strong reason to shift.

Do a BSc (preferably in Physics or Aviation) alongside or after 12th to keep both options open.

Start pilot training after 12th or during college, depending on finances and availability.

If your son wants to become a commercial pilot and also study BSc, it is good to first choose a BSc course that has Physics and Mathematics. These two subjects are important for flying training later. He can do BSc in Physics or BSc in Aviation if available. After finishing BSc, he can join a flying school that is approved by DGCA, the flight authority in India. He will need to pass some tests, get medical checkup, and do flying hours to get the Commercial Pilot License.

Some colleges also offer BSc along with pilot training, which saves time. In this case, he can study theory and do flight practice together. This is good if you want him to study and train at the same time. Make sure the college is linked to a good flying school. You can also check the Career360 app to find such colleges and their admission process, course fees, and requirements.
