  • The exam duration is 4 hours and consists of 2 parts. The duration of time needed to finish each section is 2 hours.
  • The section A of the test contains multiple choice questions in Mathematics and logical reasoning. The questions are of the undergraduate level.
  • The section B of the test contains descriptive, short answer questions from Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, and Engineering & Technology.
  • The first section is of 30 marks, whereas the second section is of 70 marks.
  • Candidates who are applying for admission into M.Tech in Quality, Operations & Reliability will find two parts in section B.
  • The first part is for candidates who are from statistics/maths stream. The second part is for candidates who are from engineering stream.
  • Candidates who are applying for admission into M.Tech in CS will find five parts in Section B.
  • Candidates have to attempt only one section out of the 5 sections: Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science and Engineering & Technology.

Syllabus for undergraduate program:

  • Algebra: Sets, operations on sets. Prime numbers, factorization of integers and divisibility. Rational and irrational numbers. Permutations and combinations, basic probability. Binomial Theorem. Logarithms. Polynomials: Remainder Theorem, Theory of quadratic equations and expressions, relations between roots and coefficients. Arithmetic and geometric progressions. Inequalities involving arithmetic, geometric & harmonic means. Complex numbers. Matrices and determinants.
