What will be the subject wise cut off this year for JEE advanced? 12 or 13? In 2016, the total was 372, same as 2019. The cut off was 13.

Dear Neha,

The question paper of JEE Advanced 2016 was much tougher than 2019. Last year, for out of 360, the minimum aggregate marks for each subject was 12. This year's question paper was relatively comparable to that of last year. But as the total has increased by 12 marks, the minimum cutoff for each subject is expected to be 13.

Hi there!!!! The cutoff marks in jee advanced has no relevance to previous years. Each year the difficulty of paper changes and jee results are so unpredictabl. So each year the cutoff changes and it is very difficult to predict cutoff of one individual subject. Although if you still want an answer then by general perception and reviews the paper of 2016 was one of the toughest paper ever made. So this year the cutoff will be higher atleast when compared to 2016. But again jee is unpredictable so you will have to wait for the results only. All the best for the results!!

Thanks for your response and good observations. I have read similar things on other forums. My take on this is that this is contrary to all logic :) For a tougher paper, logically the cut off should be lower. Also since class 3 we are taught 12.4 rounds down to 12. So ya, lets see if IIT profs agree to common logic. But again, its IIT...not the common man's cup of tea...or brains!
