if you are searching for nits then i think your general rank  wont help you for  nits but yor sc rank will definitly fetch you nits but you would get some better branches in newer nits rather than old ones getting in old ones is tough but you can wit till last round for the same you might get in nit silchar assam ,agartala,mizoram etc for being more specific you can see lasst years cutt off ranking of various nits on there official website...(rememeber this is for your sc rank)
