To gain a seat in one of the NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs with a Respectable Branch, you must have a SC Rank of at least 9k. The comparable CRL for the SC Rank will be around 150-160k, with a Percentile Target of at least 85-90.

In my view, there is no such thing like safe score ,if you want to perform excellent in jee mains so that you can get admission in niit or gbti , then you should have to score more than 90 percentile but if you just only want to clear the jee main exam you only have to score more than you sc category cut off i.e, around more than 50 percentile in jee main but this will not secure your seat in any nit or gbti. By scoring just more than your cut off you can eligible for the jee advance exam thats it.
So, I suggest you to perform well in your exam .
