IIT KANPUR : The cutoff marks for this the qualifying marks in GATE.Candidates who have marks higher than the given cutoff will be eligible for admissions in the institute. The placement is really very good as usual. GATE does not have any counselling process and admissions to candidates is given through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).

MNIT Allahabad : This is really a very good course. GATE cutoff for MNIT Allahabad is the opening and closing marks within which the institute allots seats in its various courses.  The cut off marks changes in every years due to different course . The placement is also very good and there are so many job opportunites in this course.

Now it is depend on you that what you can do the best, then choose it.

It completely depends on you which course you want to persue as Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) is a public technical and research university located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT) , formerly Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College, is a public technical university located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. So according to me you must not run behind college rather chase the perfect course. Hope this may help you

In my opinion you should go for mtech in geoinformatics at IIT Kanpur rather than information security at mnit allahabad. Because IIT Kanpur has better ranking than mnit allahabad also the placement records based on previous years support this fact.
