Though NIRF Rankings suggest VIT as the better University between Manipal and itself, my views differ. Placements and Infrastructure arent only the means for distinguishing between campuses, most of the Top Private Universities today have good Placement prospects and strong infrastructure. What matters for 4 years survival is a well knit campus culture and competitive environment.

Having myself been an Engineering Aspirant in past, with friends at both places, I believe MIT Manipal is a much better place to be than VIT, considering the smaller batches, better student-faculty interactions, better research facilities, as well as strong alumini & employer outlook.

CSE for instance has 800+ students at VIT Vellore, across CSE and Specialization Courses, whereas the number is just 250 at MIT Manipal. Secondly, MIT Manipal has significantly better placements for Non CSE/IT/ECE Branches, when compared to Non CSE/IT Branches at VIT Vellore. Certain Companies like Tata Motors, visit MIT Manipal for Placements from Mech/Elec/Production Branches, but not other Private Universities like MIT Manipal or SRMIST.

You ideal preference order during Admissions & Counselling Time must be,

1. CSE MIT Manipal

2. CSE/IT VIT Vellore

3. Choose the Next Best Branch Available after CSE at MIT Manipal, if you dont get the Above 2 Options.
