Though India is passing through a phase of infrastructure boom it does not really affect the number of jobs available for the civil engineering students. As most of the lucrative job offers in civil are from government sector there is not much increase in them as the infrastructure activity by the government has stayed the same. Hope this helps.

Civil Engineering is one of the Best Engineering course in the field of Engineering. If you want to launch your career in the field of Civil Engineering, you must do your Btech course in IIT's or NIT's. Then only you will get good placements and opportunities to explore. Some good companies like L&T will recruit major students from IIT's .

Actually civil engineering is a good branch but nowadays there is limited amount of scope.

And there are very few core jobs available in civil. Many work in software also civil engineering has average placements nowadays.

Placement point of view it's not good but If you are very much interested in construction you can be successful it mainly depends on the interest.
