Bachelor of Technology in Mathematics and Computing is a four-year full-time course offered by the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi.

The new B.Tech. program in Mathematics & Computing is a unique and pioneering program that will offer students a strong foundation in mathematics, computing, and computational thinking. It will focus on developing analytical and problem-solving skills that can be applied across various fields in science and engineering. By emphasizing on both theoretical and practical aspects of mathematical and scientific computing, this program will prepare graduates for diverse career opportunities in industries, academia, and research and development. It aims to produce graduates who possess a wide range of mathematical and computational knowledge, techniques, and tools, enabling them to tackle complex real-world problems effectively.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs:

(1) Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are required as compulsory subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination in 2019 or 2020.

(2) Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination in 2019 or 2020 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

The percentile calculation will be done for the required subjects in a single academic year only. Therefore, candidates appearing for improvement in Board examinations can EITHER appear in one or more subjects and secure 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST, and PwD) after improvement, OR, appear for improvement in ALL subjects to be in top 20 percentile of the corresponding academic year.

• The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion.

i. Physics

ii. Chemistry

iii. Mathematics

iv. A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered)

v. Any subject other than the above four (the subject with the highest marks will be considered).

Admission Details

Students are admitted to undergraduate courses (four-year Bachelor of Technology) through an All-India entrance known as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by all the IIT's, at various centers across the country.
Admission at the undergraduate level is not available to Non-Resident Indians. As per the decision of IIT council the admission to the Undergraduate programme through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme is abolished.
